Dance

Once upon a time…

…a little girl walked the earth, which was filled with a loud noise. The thunder of rage, the guns and bombs of war, and the cries of the desperate and dying.

She placed her footsteps carefully amongst all of it, she didn’t wanna be the cause of even more rage, war and despair.

And then one day she found a hiding-place inside, she closed her eyes and kept her voice to herself. She found stillness from the inside out. It was all she knew to do to stay safe from the thunder of rage, the guns and bombs of war, and the cries of the desperate and dying.

She was all alone, and she was terrified…

“I’m so sorry” she said. “I don’t know what else to do, I’m just a little girl, just let me lay down here until death will lead me some place else”

“Come! Dance with me”

A soft voice whispered in her ear. She could hear it clearly against the rumble of a desperate world.

“Dance?” She replied, “This is no time for a dance, it’s time to sit still and be quiet, to be sad, and it’s time to cry, and even maybe time to die”

“Come! Dance with me”

Slowly and carefully she opened her eyes.

Yes, she could still hear the thunder of rage, the guns and bombs of war, and the cries of the desperate and dying.

But more then that, she heard that strange invitation, and she felt something she hadn’t felt for a long time;

Love came…

“Come! Dance with me”

Her toes started to wiggle, her hips started to move from one side to another, to a sound she’d almost forgotten. She lifted her arms and they started to move to a magical and beautiful rhythm. It was then when she rediscovered her own voice. And she sang the song that was in her heart.

She danced.

The One gave her a smile, and all was good.

(I found the background a few days ago after finishing redecorating my studio, and then this happened. It’s acrylic on canvas, 40 cm by 40 cm)
